Iron cabinet_living

As many of you might have noticed, I do a lot of changes in our house. But a change does´t necessarily mean that you have to buy new things all the time. No, no… just move the things that you already have and you will get a new look without using any money. I do this quite often.

The weekend is a great time to make some changes, so this weekend I made a new “still life” on our iron cabinet and I ( finally got the time to ) hang the pictures on the wall. I used things that we already had, but they feel new now that I have them in another setting. Tip of the day!

Breakfast table

Sundays are usually a day when we have a long, delicious breakfast with toasted bread, boiled eggs, tea…. quality time at its best! I love sitting at the table longer than usual, having no particular plans for the day.

But more importantly we have to celebrate all the mothers in Norway today. Happy Norwegian Mother´s day – I hope you get treated well!

I went through some of my old drawings and paintings from school yesterday, and I got an urge to do something creative. I used to love aquarelle painting and wanted to try it out again, so I found my brushes and watercolor, and painted this woman last night. It actually turned out better than I had expected, considering that I actually haven´t done this in over 15 years. Still I see that I have to loosen up a bit so the lines gets more lively and playful, but that takes practice…. So from now on; less TV and more painting and drawing – it´s so much fun!

Did you have a hobby that you loved but may have forgotten? Maybe this weekend is the right time to try it out again?

New lamp_Ikea

Maybe it´s because Ikea warehouses are enormous or the fact that I´m there too often, but I usually have difficulty spotting their news when I walk through their stores. Sadly, I get a feeling that I have seen it all before and I end up buying some plants, candles and a new toy for my dog. Do you feel the same, or is it just me?

Anyway, I got a press release the other day about their February news and realized that I have to look harder for their news next time I´m at Ikea. My favorite is their new shelf BOTKYRKA (which looks a bit like VIPP´s shelf, don´t you agree?) as well as I fell in love with the styling in the first photo. The lamp is new, but what I loved the most is the grey on grey – it might look depressive for some of you, but for me it looks sophisticated and cosy. I would replace the “cute” details with something more “glammy” though.. *smile*. Oh, and notice how good the wooden nightstand looks with grey paint – an easy upgrade!

Aeon Rocket P3

Lightyears are introducing three new lamps at the Stockholm Furniture & Northern Light Fair this week, and I´m excited over sharing  them here with you. I think Lightyears produces a lot of beautiful lamps and it looks like they keep on coming….

1. Aeon Rocket by Morten Voss – is the first pendant in history to take full advantage of the luminous qualities of combining metal and polypropylene in the same pendant.

Volume T Fade-to-Grey

2. Volume LED table lamp by GamFratesi – simply increase or decrease the intensity of the light by a simple rotation of the hand on the shade. Love it!

3. Lullaby by Monica Förster – a beauty made out of stone paper and ash.

Which one do you like the most?
