Do you remember the apartment I styled for my friend in Oslo? Well, now it´s featured in Ikea Family Live Magazine! See more pictures of the apartment together with the interview with my lovely friend Hanne on Ikea´s website.

Even though we are in the middle of summer, Autumn news is starting to pop up online. It´s always fun to see what we can expect in the season to come isn´t it? I can only speak for myself, but I´m always craving something new and are looking forward to do a few changes at home when a new season is upon us.

Anyway, I have to say that I really like H&M Home Autumn Collection this year that is an affordable way to follow the trends. Here are some of my favorites from their news, and I have to admit some of them was quickly added to the shopping cart and is already on its way to my home – can´t wait!

Do you see anything you like?

I hope you are enjoying lazy and sunny days this month and that you´re not spending to much time in front of your computer when summer is finally here. As you can see from the activity here on Stylizimo Blog, we are having great weather and I´m enjoying every minute and are charging my batteries for a new season.

Some of my quality time have been spent on decorating our terrace. We now have a new wall behind our outdoor sofa as well as a few new plants. This year it´s mostly green plants out there, as I like the freshness it gives. I really enjoy sitting out here reading magazines and just relax…

Wishing you all a great and summery weekend!

The Norwegian Daniel Rybakken is one of the world’s hottest lighting designers at the moment and I´m certain that we are going to hear a lot about him in the years to come. His work occupies the area between art and design, forming limited editions, art installations and prototypes for serial production. Recently he received the prestigious award ‘Best of the Best’ Red Dot Award and the Elle Decoration International Design Award for the lamp “Counterbalance” that was presented in Milan last year. This man definitely gives lighting a new perceptive!

His newest design “Ascent” was presented in Milan this year, and is an exciting new lamp that uses the same archetypical head found on Counterbalance, mounted on a slender vertical stem. By moving the head along the stem, the light intensity goes from being turned off at the bottom position, to gradually ascending to the full light output at the top. This gives the user control over not only the light intensity, but also the spread of the light – genius!

Another interesting project is the Layer Installation he did in 2012 at the Swedish Institute in Paris together with the Norwegian Embassy in Paris and the Swedish Institute, with help from Luceplan.

The award winning Light Tray is another one of his great designs. Designed with Andreas Engesvik for Asplund.

If some of this caught your interest you can check out more of his work on his website

As I have told you before; green plants are a big trend these days, both inside and outside. They are making it more homey and they bring freshness to every room. There are of course many ways to add green plants, so I thought I would give you a few ideas on how you can decorate with plants in your home.

  1. There is a lot of nice weeds and straws that you can put in vases to liven it all up. The best thing about this is that it’s completely free!
  2. Cut off a branch of a larger green plant and place it in a vase to decorate for example your bathroom.
  3. Fresh herbs are both useful and decorative. Grow your own or buy it in the store.
  4. Large or small potted plants – there is much good to choose from here.
  5. Cactus and succulents are perfect for people who “forget” to water.
  6. A big branch of a tree (eg. Maple) in a glass vase decoration is very decorative.
  7. Fill your patio/outdoor area with trees and plants for a lush environment.
