Grey book wall

OUR NEW GREY BOOK WALL & A BIG OLIVE TREE

Although I really liked how our book wall used to look like in black, I actually prefer this lighter look that we got after I replaced it with the perfect grey color. Together with the wall behind the couch that I showed you last week, I decided to paint this corner of the living room in the same grey so I could connect the two areas without making it too dark in the living room ( the rest of the living room have white walls.. ). The new color goes perfectly with everything else in the living room, and I couldn´t be happier with this little makeover. It´s amazing how easy you can make a change in a room with just a few hours of painting, right?

To make my grey book wall, I painted the ledges ( from Ikea ) in the same color as the wall to get a cleaner look and to make the books and art can stand out. With the new light wall I have now also chosen to feature books and art that are in the same shade to get a serene and delicate look. I´ve also added some wooden frames in the shelves to add some warmth and to match the wooden daybed.

Along with the new color I also bought this huge olive tree  ( found it on 50% off! ) Since this corner has two big windows it can look and feel a bit “naked” as I have no curtains. But with this tree I think it looks much more cosy and it really makes the room. Let´s just hope that I can keep it alive. Do you have any tips for me, maybe?

IKEA Catalog 2017

It´s the launch of the IKEA catalog 2017 these days, and I find it very exciting to see whatever news they have to offer. IKEA´s catalog is usually very inspiring, and I love all the smart ideas they come up with – I always get tons of ideas after looking through it!

The catalog is of course all about new products, new ideas and new ways to look at life at home. But the main focus of this year´s catalog is on solutions for the everyday. Like how to live in small spaces, how to create a home that follows your rhythm and how to make sustainability a natural part of life.

Anyway, I want to share some of my favorites from their news and have therefore made a collage for you to see. I´ve already mentioned the new ELVARI system that I really love, but here are a few other products that I like:

The perfect grey color

I´VE FOUND THE PERFECT GREY COLOR!

I´ve been looking for the perfect grey color or our living room for quite a while, and last Friday I finally got it on the wall ( yes, this is how I spend my Friday evenings…haha). I needed a little contrast behind the couch, but also a lighter replacement for the black walls ( Lady 9938 Dempet Sort ) we had in the corner of our living room, and I ended up with this beautiful and perfect grey Lady Pure Color 1032 Grå Harmoni.

Finding the perfect grey can be difficult as it changes with the light in the room. It´s also important that it harmonises with the other colors in the room. I wanted to have a warm light grey that wasn´t too beige, and since we get a warmer light in the room because of our wooden ceiling this grey color turned out exactly how I wanted it to be.

I´m planning something else than the picture wall we had behind the couch as well, and in the meantime I´m enjoying the simplicity of having nothing but our Flos lamp.

You can see before pictures of our living room here.

nice book support

SAY HELLO TO MY NICE BOOK SUPPORT

I´ve been searching for a nice book support and found this one for a nice price the other day. I have a lot of books and magazines that I haven´t read yet, so this one with the text “Books I haven´t read” was perfect for me.

I was hoping to find a link for it, in case you wanted one too, but it seems like it´s sold out online ( I can only find it in brass , which is nice too). Anyway, I bought mine at H&M Home here in Drammen, so maybe your local shop still have it..

Dare to Organize

DARE TO ORGANIZE

Almost a year ago I wrote about the amazing “Organize” series by Dare to and ever since I´ve had it on my wishlist. And now that it was time to get organized in my creative room ( where I paint and have a small studio in the house ), I finally had place and an excuse to buy this smart and flexible system. I´ve started with two small wood boards in birch and are very happy with the result. Now I´m looking forward to test out different options to create another look – suits me just perfect, as I love changes! ; )

Dare To Organize

The beautiful color on the wall is Lady 4629 Skyggeblå  – a wonderful bluegrey color that I´m totally in love with!
