Parrot tulips

Yesterday I found the most wonderful bouquet of flowers when I was in Oslo, so I´m all set for the weekend. Since it will be snowing a lot the whole weekend, my plan is spend all my time inside and catch up on some new magazines that are waiting for me. In addition to that I will be hanging up some more curtains in the house. This time in a room downstairs that is newly painted – I can´t wait to show you the result.

What are your plans for this weekend?

Curtains on a budget

I´ve been thinking about curtains for a while, and with the new grey color in the living room, I´ve finally gotten some curtains up as well. With the big windows in this corner it felt a bit cold and “naked” so I thought now that winter is on its way it would be nice with some curtains.

By the window towards the view, I´ve just hung one curtain to cover the wall on the side  – both to soften up the area, but also to cover up some non flattering heating switch and socket. Ideally, I’d hung the curtains all the way up to the ceiling, but since there is a wooden beam in the way on the other side where I have curtains, I chose to have them on the same height.

Grey curtains

Towards our neighbour I´ve hung curtains on the whole wall so we can get some more privacy in the evenings if we want to. During daytime I take them aside to get more light in.
Hanging curtains this high certainly give a loungy feel, and I love the new look these curtains gave.

Best of all, everything was on a low budget as well. For the curtains, rails, and gliders etc., I ended up with approx. $85 ( ca. 700 NOK ) in total – not so bad, huh? ( I bought the curtains at Ikea, and the rest at Kid Interiør. )

Greige book and art wall

After I painted the hallway and kitchen in warmer colors, I had to replace the perfect grey with a warmer greige in the living room as well.  I needed a color that would harmonize better with the other colors in the house, and I ended up with LADY 1352 Form – a beautiful warm grey that is a little bit darker than the previous grey we had in the living room.

And with the change of color, I´ve also made a few changes on my picture ledges ( that I´ve painted in the same color as the wall ). Most of the books are now replaced with art, and I´m very happy with the result. That´s what I love so much about these picture ledges; It´s so easy to change the look! A great tip for you who love to redecorate often.

Halloween table setting

I guess most of you who are celebrating Halloween are all set, but I´ll share some last minute Halloween inspiration for you anyway. Here are  some of my decorations from previous years – not the typical orange Halloween as you see a lot of in stores, but mostly black and a little bit more “adult”.

Black Halloween pumpkin

Here I´ve painted the pumpkin in matt black – simply and stylish!

Halloween decoration idea

Why not cut out some bats and put them on the fork as I´ve done here?

Black and copper pumpkins are always stylish. For extra glam you can glue on some pearls as well.. ; )

Create a Halloween table setting using black and brass as I´ve done here.

fall-decorations-760

Instead of the typical Halloween decorations outdoors, I´ve made this autumn decorations using a lantern that I´ve filled with two white small pumpkins, pinecones and nuts. With some lovely brown leaves around it, I get the extra autumn feeling outdoors until I start decoration for Christmas.

A little autumn tip for those of you who prefer to have a more neutral color scheme in these orange Halloween times ; )
