MY NEW IKEA BOOKCASE HACK
I´ve been looking for a nice bookcase for a while now, and when I saw the IKEA bookcase hack by Anna Kubel a little while back, I just had to make something similar as it was spot on to what I was looking for.
The bookcase is made out of two of the biggest VALJE shelf units, which are turned sideways and painted in the same gray color as I have in the opposite corner of the living room. I built the shelves first ( they were very easy to build as they have a click-on system ) but I waited with the back panels until I had painted everything (including the panels). I chose to drop the legs, but if you want legs you can just make new holes for it on the side that´s facing the floor.
Flipping the units 90 degrees also means that the original holes are on the side of the unit instead of the bottom, so I had to fill the original holes. I recommend you do this before you paint.
PS! For safety reasons, you should screw the bookcase to the wall.
Want to make a bookcase yourself now? ; )

Wow, great idea! Thank you for sharing
Nice idea! Looks great and the colour is perfect Greetings from Finland ❤️
Snyggt !!!
Hi Nina
It is lovely. Did you use a spray or roller to paint?
Did you have to prime it first
Thank you
Just perfect! I love this. Thanks for sharing.
Nydelig hylle system.
Obsessed with the colour x

Yes, it´s a nice one 🙂
Absolutely brilliant idea and the result looks stunning! And I love that shade of grey so much :))
Happy you like it! 🙂
love it!
Oh it’s a great idea!! I Love it! 🙂
Have a nice day!

Hej Nina,
is it hard to paint because of that ikea material of the furniture? It isnt real wood.
I actually went well 🙂

This looks great, Nina! The bookshelves rotated create much nicer proportions than as the shelves are originally intended. I’ll definitely keep this in mind for myself down the line.
Hei! Veldig fin hylle!
