Another project we have been working on this summer is this wall “behind” the terrace. Since this is towards the street we are living in, we wanted to make a higher wall for more privacy. A black high wall can be a bit “unfriendly”, therefore I designed this integrated flower box for green plants for a more welcoming entrance to the house. With the two lamps on the wall it looks very nice in the evenings as well…
You can see what´s behind this wall in my post “Before & After Outdoors part 2”

Hi!
I really liked your flower box, and was thinking that this idea also can work in my garden. But do you have any good advises that I should think about. Should I for example, dress it with plastic on the inside, considering that the cladding can rot?
Linn
Thank you, Linn! Yes, make sure to cover all the wood with plastic so it doesn´t rot. It´s also important to make the construction stong enough to hold all the soil. It gets very heavy when it gets wet… We have actually made a “floor” in the middle of the box, so we could have less soil to fill it up. That way it doesn´t get that heavy either.
So smart to make a floor within the box! I will show my husband tonight 🙂
Have a nice weekend!
[…] We have also been working a lot on the outdoors. Starting by painting the house in the color “Dempet Sort” ), building a new and bigger terrace and doing a lot of upgrade in the garden. Also very happy with our DIY flower box wall. […]
Hey, it looks so nice! And I really enjoy reading your blog! For this (and the rest of your terrace) I was wondering which kind of tree you are using? Is it painted black and “treated” to last long from the fabric or did you paint it yourself?
Hi Nina,
I absolutely love the design you’ve created for this. We have a similar length planter box on our back deck and I’d really value your insight into the types of plants/ flowers you went with if possible? I really love the staggering heights plus those 2 cascading beauties.

Hi Nina. What a wonderfull wall and flower box. We buildt a similar flower box in our garden last fall, and I have not desided which flower/plants I want in it, so ITS empty right now. So I was wondering, which flower/plants have you used?
