A week ago we moved into our new house, and I thought I could share some BEFORE photos of it while we are renovating.
The house is an architect designed house (built in 1986) that is shaped as a pyramid. It has a huge living room with a big loft in the middle where my new office will be.
What I love about the house is the 4 meter height under the ceiling in the living room, and the spectacular view over Drammen city and the fjord. The wooden floor in the living room is also very nice.
The walls looks nice in the photos, but they are really not. They are very discolored and has a textile wallpaper which is very outdated. So the plan is to renovate all the walls, as well as putting drywall+paint on some of the wooden panelling on the loft area to brighten it up a bit. We are thinking about keeping the wooden roof though, but it needs to be treated in some way to get it lighter – any suggestions?
That was the BEFORE photos of the living room and loft. I´m looking forward sharing AFTER photos with you in the time to come…
I´ll show you more BEFORE photos of rooms in the house later

All the best,

Wow! What a lovely place :). So spacious and full of light, and I love the “blonde” wood :). I cannot wait for a posts with the renovation progress, I bet it will look gorgeous :).
I like Osmo wax, it earned many good opinions regarding whitening the wood, maybe it’s worthy to consider their products, or something similar?
Have a lovely day 🙂
Monika
Thank you, Monika! I love the “blonde” wood as well 🙂
I´ll check out the Osmo wax. Thank you for your recommendation.
Nina
Wow Nina, I am speechless – what a fantastic new home and the views!!! Amazing!! This looks like a dream home but it requires your finishing touches regarding the interior design! Can’t wait to see how you will transform this space! Big hugs!
Thank you so much, dear Igor! And yes, the house really has a good potential. I have some great plans for it, and I´m looking forward sharing them all with you little by little…
xx,
Nina
I don’t personally have any suggestions, but it really looks like even despite some of the drawbacks you are starting with a really great base. Cannot wait to see how this develops!
rae of love from berlin
Looking forward sharing the process with you!
Totally in agreement about the overabundance of wood paneling. What about a whitewash treatment? A thin coat of white that allows some of the original warm wood tone to come through but maintains the textural interest of a strong grain.
Excited to see future posts in this series.
DC
Yes, I´m thinking about a whitewash treatment in some kind. I just have to figure out what to use 🙂 Thank you so much for your feedback!
Nina
Wow Nina what a beautiful place and home!

Stunning architecture!!!!
I guess this house is bigger then the old one. Was this a reason for moving?
Thank you!
Yes, the house is much bigger than the last one, but that was not the reason. We have been looking for a house with big windows and with a view here in Drammen for a long time, and suddenly we found one that we really like.
Adore the open spaces in this house especially the windows!! That office space is great too

Wow!! Beautiful! And your golden hands will work their magic to turn this place into a wonderful place, no doubt 🙂 Can’t wait to see the AFTER pic’s.
I’m gasping already! Looks great! What a potential! You’ve got a pearl there! Congratulations! Cannot wait to see you done with it…

Vi vil gipse over panelet!! 🙂
I really like the design of the house, its simple but elegant. The interior design is beautiful, it creates more space of the place. What I like about the design is the interiors are placed well inside and not blocking ways or disturbing anyone walking in the house..

Se før-billeder her. […]
