The bathrooms in my home are old. More precisely 1986 old. Luckily, the main bathroom has a basic design with white titles so it is not too bad and after painting the bathroom furniture it turned ok. However, for the second bathroom, they originally chose red tiles and there is no question that you have stepped into the 80s when you use this bathroom.
Needless to say, I am dreaming of making changes. So to take it one step further I thought it would be fun to do a bit of planning and look at the options.
THE COMPROMISE
Since bathrooms are usually smaller rooms, it is tricky to mix both the functional and the design. I want it spacious but still have storage. I want it to look great but still be affordable, and I want to make it my own with some nice details.
Not the easiest criteria to check off, and adding to the difficulty is the fact that great looking bathroom furniture is hard to find. But it seems change is happening, and I was very happy to be introduced to the newly launched Graphic series from Gustavsberg which actually checks off all my criteria.
THE SOLUTION
First, let´s look at the design. It is clean and modern, and it caught my eye the first time I saw it. They had done something different and done it really well! But what about the functional aspect? Actually, reading about Gustavsberg I learned that they design their furniture from the principle “form follows function”, meaning that from great design comes great function. So does it?
The short answer is yes. Since I have such a small bathroom it requires some thoughtful solutions and I am glad to see that they have put some thought into this. First of all, most of the Graphic series furniture comes in two depth sizes. Secondly, everything is module based so you can pretty much create your own unique setup. And thirdly, they have added neat features like this flap with a magnetic list.
Another thing I liked is the gray color the modules are available in, as seen below. Wonder if the blue color on the wall is LADY 4477 Deco Blue from Jotun? It looks really good and shows that bathrooms don’t necessarily have to be white nor covered in tiles.

Lastly, I am happy to see that they have accessories that will let me add my own touch. The ones that caught my attention are the leather knob and the black knob, which can also be used as a hook. Really cool!
It was fun to do a bit of dreaming and planning. Now I know that when the time comes to upgrade my bathroom(s) there are actually options available that will satisfy my taste, including design and function.
What do you think of the new Graphic series from Gustavsberg?
