There has been a lot going on in the Stylizimo house lately, and as you have seen in some of my earlier posts I have been moving my office around from room to room as the renovations has been going on. Thankfully, we are getting close the finish line and with that I am also able to share an additional renovation project that has been going on.
When we bought the house, there was a huge fireplace in the middle of the living room that not only took a lot of space – it did not do much good warming up the room either. So, I have been really wanting to do something with this but my research for a solution ended up in costly alternatives due to the job of removing the old fireplace and building a new one that would fit a fireplace insert.
But thankfully, I came across the Norwegian brand “Nordpeis” and their module based Panama system which made the project much more doable. It is quite clever actually, and you wonder why this has not been done before. The whole system is made up of modules which makes it very easy to build but still giving you flexibility to tailor the fireplace to your needs. Examples include a one-side or two-side insert, firewood storage or a bench.
After visiting Nordpeis´s Concept store and looking at all the models they have on display there, I ended up with a two-sided insert giving me a view of the fire from two sides. In addition I got the module with a big storage room for firewood, and I love how it turned out. The insert is beautiful to look at and with its sliding guillotine door you get that exclusive feeling. Adding that to the clean and modern design of the whole modular system, I have to say this fireplace upgraded the look and feel of the whole living room. It is funny how something that looked like monstrous job ended up taking two days, one day removing the old fireplace and actually just 4 hours setting up the new one.
It is good to say that I am finally welcoming winter as I am sure I will be able to stay warm now with this new fireplace, and I look forward to gazing at the dancing flames.
Are you looking for a new fireplace yourself?
